About Us

A foundation built on a family’s idea of service

Anandini Madhu Foundation was created to carry forward, into the wider world, the values that three remarkable lives quietly practised every day.

Who We Are

The name behind the Foundation

The Foundation’s name holds the three people in whose memory it works — Anand and Nandini Sawhney, and Madhu Kapur. Their names sit together in ours as a daily reminder of the standard they set: patriotism without noise, hospitality without limit, and devotion without display.

What Guides Us

Mission, vision and values

Our Mission

To serve the underprivileged through sustainable efforts in healthcare, education, environment, and relief and support — giving our time, skills and care to the homeless, children, the elderly and the disabled, and to families facing hardship.

Our Vision

A compassionate society in which no one is left without care, dignity or opportunity because of the circumstances they were born into — and in which giving one’s time to others is an ordinary duty, not an extraordinary act.

Compassion

We begin by listening. Every programme starts with the people it is meant to serve, not with our assumptions about them.

Resilience

Change is slow and rarely tidy. We stay with a community through the difficult middle, not only the hopeful beginning.

Courage

We are willing to take on the subjects others avoid — gender, safety, disability, mental health — and to speak plainly about them.

Self-Reliance

Our aim is never dependence on us. Success is a family, a school or a neighbourhood that no longer needs our help.

Integrity

What we promise is what we do, and what we spend is accounted for. Trust is the only real currency a foundation has.

Indian Ethos

We take pride in Indian culture and tradition, and in the idea that Sewa Param Dharma — service is the highest duty.
